News
The spotlight will shine on Pyramid Parr Hall on 23 June 2022 as the stage is set for Warrington’s inaugural TEDx event. Speakers from across the region are being given the opportunity to share their inspirational concept and, because of a two-year delay to the original 2020 date, the organisers have added two new categories and opened the application process again.
Despite the Covid disruptions, Warrington organiser and licencee Kirsty James hasn’t been deterred; if anything she says she’s even more excited about the event.
Kirsty James said,
“TEDx offers a world-renowned speaker platform as each presentation is watched by hundreds, if not thousands of people. It’s a really positive platform to share ideas and inspire others.
The overall theme for Warrington’s TEDx is ‘Build Connection, Strengthen Communities’, and it’s fair to say that over the last two years we’ve witnessed innumerable great examples of such acts so we have decided to add two new categories to the application process – ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ and ‘Embracing Change’. These new categories will take account of the changed circumstances and stories that the world – and Warrington – has experienced.
The one thing I would say is that if you have an idea but are nervous, don’t worry – we have a speaker programme in place to support you leading up to the day, but your passion for ‘an idea worth sharing’ must shine through your video application to get you there!”
Applications for the two new categories will open at noon on Friday 7 January 2022 and will close at noon on Wednesday 9 February 2022.
So, for those of you that haven’t spent your additional free time clearing out the cupboards and binge-watching Netflix, there’s a potential world stage at your feet, right here in Warrington. Get your application in quickly!

About TED TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, often in the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED conferences, including our annual gathering in Vancouver, as well as TEDWomen, intimate TED Salons and thousands of independently organized TEDx events around the world. Videos of these talks are made available, free, on TED.com and other platforms. Audio versions of the talks from TED2019 are published to TED’s podcast TED Talks Daily, available on all podcast platforms.
TED’s open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; TEDx, which licenses thousands of individuals and groups to host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities; the Audacious Project, which surfaces and funds critical ideas that have the potential to impact millions of lives; TEDSummit, which gathers the most engaged members of the global TED community for brainstorms, discussions, performances, workshops and an eclectic program of mainstage talks; and the educational initiative TED-Ed.
