Warrington’s inaugural TEDx event is set to debut at the Pyramid Parr Hall on the evening of Thursday 23 June and organiser Kirsty James has issued a final reminder call for speakers to submit their video entries with thoughts and ideas.
TEDx events take place around the world and the TED organisation has granted Warrington community champion and business networker Kirsty James a licence to hold an independently organised public TEDx event in her hometown, Warrington.
Kirsty James said, “The opportunity to speak at a TEDx is much coveted. It is a global phenomenon that seeks to uncover innovative ideas and inspirational and thought-provoking talks on all manner of topics relating to technology, entertainment and design – hence TED – as well as science, philosophy, music, religion, philanthropy, along with many others.
Warrington is known globally as a town of enterprise and innovation and so I cannot wait to hear our speakers presenting their big idea connected to our theme ‘Building Connection, Strengthen Communities’. We’ve also added two new talk categories this year – ‘Embracing Change’ and ‘Diversity and Inclusion’. There has been a great response so far but we know there will be further hidden gems yet to be revealed. We don’t want any budding speakers to miss out and urge readers to share this call out. The web application process closes at noon on Wednesday 9 February 2022.
You don’t have to be an experienced speaker. We are looking for ideas, enthusiasm and innovative thoughts. If shortlisted by the speaker selection panel, you will be offered a place on our Speaker Support Programme offering training and guidance and from which you may be selected as a final speaker for the final event”
To enter, speakers must submit a video of up to 5 minutes maximum describing their ‘idea worth spreading’ and the impact it could have.
Full details, including selection criteria, the commitment involved and how to submit an entry can be found on the TEDx Warrington website www.tedxwarrington.com

About TED TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, often in the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED conferences, including our annual gathering in Vancouver, as well as TEDWomen, intimate TED Salons and thousands of independently organized TEDx events around the world. Videos of these talks are made available, free, on TED.com and other platforms. Audio versions of the talks from TED2019 are published to TED’s podcast TED Talks Daily, available on all podcast platforms.
TED’s open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; TEDx, which licenses thousands of individuals and groups to host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities; the Audacious Project, which surfaces and funds critical ideas that have the potential to impact millions of lives; TEDSummit, which gathers the most engaged members of the global TED community for brainstorms, discussions, performances, workshops and an eclectic program of mainstage talks; and the educational initiative TED-Ed.
