News
Almost one year on from the inaugural TEDxWarrington at the Pyramid Parr Hall, Warrington, the
organising team has just announced 2023 event plans and the call for speaker applications until 6 June 2023.
Organiser and licencee Kirsty James has once again been successful in securing a coveted licence from TED to run TEDxWarrington. An event theme and suggested talk sub-themes were submitted in her proposal and the cogs of the organising wheel have now begun to turn once again.
Volunteer team members and associates across the Warrington area are being brought together; a new
website, produced by Beech Web Services, has been launched; and a newsletter now keeps TEDx fans
updated.
TEDxWarrington 2023 will run on the evening of Thursday 16 November 2023 and the team is delighted to be working closely with Ombudsman Services who will be hosting the event in their new conference facility on the Daresbury Park business complex, Warrington.
The event theme will be ‘Tackling Adversity, Embracing Change’. Whether the challenge or change be
physical, economic, environmental, technological or social, speakers can submit a talk suggestion based on their own interpretation of this theme.
The presence of a brand such as TEDx – one of the most famous speaker conference formats globally – will inevitably generate both curiosity and expectation in the town, especially after the 2022 event received such high praise in the press and from TED feedback reports.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. It is also an event of two components: There is a live event, which for Warrington is limited by licence to 100 lucky ticket-holders. And then there is the production of the official TEDx talks; speakers are filmed at the live event and the talks submitted to TED to approve for the official TEDx channel which reaches a global audience.
The speaker application window is open until noon, 6 June. The website provides details about the video
application process for anyone aspiring to become a TEDx speaker. The official website, newsletter and social channels will share updates as the team announces further event details, partner and sponsorship
opportunities, and speaker news along the way.
Meanwhile, the organising team, who operate non-commercially, invite readers to spread word amongst
friends, family and colleagues to assist the call out for event partners and above all a new cohort of amazing speakers with ‘ideas worth spreading’.

Editors Notes
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, often in the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED Conferences, intimate TED Salons and thousands of independently organised TEDx events around the world. Videos of these talks are made available, free, on TED.com and other platforms. Audio versions of TED Talks are published to TED Talks Daily, available on all podcast platforms.
TED’s open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; TEDx, which licenses thousands of individuals and groups to host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities; Audacious Project, which surfaces and funds critical ideas that have the potential to impact millions of lives; TED Translators Program, which crowdsources the subtitling of TED Talks so that big ideas can spread across languages and borders;
and the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED also offers TED@Work a program that reimagines TED Talks for workplace learning. TED also has a growing library of original podcasts, including The TED Interview with Chris Anderson, WorkLife with Adam Grant, Far Flung with Saleem Reshamwala and How to Be a Better Human.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxWarrington, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxWarrington event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
