John's Role
John is part of the Curation Team which involves the review and scoring of applications. As a speaker at the inaugural TEDxWarrington event in 2022, he is uniquely placed to offer independent insight into what’s required from our applicants. He’s also part of the Speaker Support Team and will assist with hosting part of the live event.
Work
John is a live artist, illustrator and comedian who believes in the power of improvisation to create conversation, help make decisions and navigate life. He performs with The Totally Improvised Company across the UK, which he’s done for over twenty years. John delivers talks and workshops on improvisation and the benefits of using improv skills at work and in life. He works with local councils and universities to bring humour and engagement to conferences and educational events. John is based at GRIT studios in Manchester.
Play
John’s proudest achievement is successfully running a Kickstarter campaign to publish his graphic novel ‘Distance’. The book is an illustrated diary of his life during the pandemic and lockdowns as it happened. He is an ambassador for Manchester Road Runners, an amazing group of people who support social running for everyone. He is also a gaming nerd.
Lesser known fact
John can speak HTML. Plus, at the age of 42, he did a headstand on a paddleboard in the middle of a lake in Wales.
